McKenzie Feed & Pet Supplies in Springfield stepped up in two big ways for ShelterCare in 2014. First, the business — which recently celebrated its 10th birthday— hired a ShelterCare consumer through the agency’s Supported Employment Program. Then in June, it sponsored a billboard advertisement highlighting ShelterCare along Hwy. 126. These connections to the community and its most vulnerable are important, according to McKenzie Feed owner Dani D. Wright.
“Our mission is to create an honest, caring and forthright business,” she said. “We support many nonprofits for pets and people, as well as local schools. We’ve also hired two individuals from the social service sector — including a ShelterCare client.”
This type of investment in the people ShelterCare serves provides the foundation needed to help clients not only recover, but grow.
